Silent Auction FAQs
- What is the Silent Auction?
The Silent Auction is a fundraiser conducted at the Annual Conference. In the conference exhibit hall, you will find pictures of items donated by AICP members, sponsors, and exhibitors. Conference attendees can bid on items by filling in a line on the corresponding bid sheet. The highest bidder as of the auction closing time claims the item at the Registration Desk in exchange for payment.
- What happens to the funds raised by the Silent Auction?
This year, proceeds from the Silent Auction will be donated to Camp Boggy Creek. Every dollar raised by the Silent Auction will help provide a safe and exciting camp experience for children suffering from chronic or life-threatening illnesses.
- What type of items are donated to the Silent Auction?
In the past, companies and individuals have contributed items like golf equipment and apparel, gift baskets, jewelry, GPS, digital cameras, gift certificates, iPods, iPads and more.
- We have already have three confirmed donations for this year’s Silent Auction:
- Walt Disney World has donated two Adult Park Hopper Tickets.
- The Peabody has donated the honor of serving as Honorary Duck Master for the Tuesday evening procession. For more information on this 75 year tradition, check out Peabody Ducks.
- A two night's stay package at the Peabody Hotel, including breakfast.
Any and all donations are welcome and greatly appreciated. Please note that items without company logos tend to receive higher bids. If you would like to donate to this year's Silent Auction, please click here to access the donation form for instructions.
- When does the Silent Auction take place?
Bidding will begin on Sunday, September 25, 2011 at 5:30 PM and end on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 right after the morning break. During this time, you can make bids any time the Exhibit Hall is open. So bid high and bid often!
- Why should I donate to and bid on items in the Silent Auction?
Because you want to help support a worthy charity that helps children suffering from chronic and life-threatening illnesses forget about their illnesses and just be "normal" for a little while. There is no greater reward than knowing you helped a child.
