CCP Designation Requirements

Once the basic requirements for eligibility have been met, and the successful completion of the ACP designation, the following successful completion of courses in the Life, Health or Property & Casualty concentrations need to be met for the CCP designation:

Life Concentration (4 Required)

Coursework for Industry

  • Either LOMA 320 - Marketing Life & Health Insurance; or LOMA 326 - Financial Services Marketing
  • AIRC 410 - Regulatory Compliance: Companies, Producers and Operations
  • AIRC 420 - Regulatory Compliance: Insurance and Annuity Products
  • One elective course in member's specialized area (pre-approved by the Education Committee)

Coursework for Regulators Pursuing AIE and CIE Designations*

  • Either LOMA 320 - Marketing Life & Health Insurance; or LOMA 326 - Financial Services Marketing
  • AIRC 410 - Regulatory Compliance: Companies, Producers and Operations
  • AIRC 420 - Regulatory Compliance: Insurance and Annuity Products
  • One elective course from the following:
    • LOMA 301 - Insurance Administration*
    • LOMA 330 - Management Principles & Practices*
    • LOMA 361 - Accounting & Financial Reporting in Life Ins. Companies*
    • Course in member's specialized area (pre-approved by the Education Committee)

*Note: Electives may not be used for both ACP and CCP credits.

Coursework for Regulators Pursuing APIR, PIR and SPIR Designations*

  • AIRC 410 - Regulatory Compliance: Companies, Producers and Operations
  • AIRC 420 - Regulatory Compliance: Insurance and Annuity Products
  • Two elective courses from the following:
    • NAIC - How to Analyze Insurer Portfolios
    • NAIC - Integrating Market Regulation
    • NAIC - Market Analysis Handbook
    • NAIC - Regulating for Solvency
    • Course in member's specialized area (pre-approved by the Education Committee)

Health Concentration (4 Required)

Coursework for Industry HIA Designation

  • Medical Expense Insurance
  • Supplemental Health Insurance
  • Two of the following courses:
    • Fraud Part I, Introduction
    • LTC Part I, Needs and Options
    • HIPAA Primer
    • One of the following courses:
      • Disability Part I, Primer
      • Disability Part II, Advanced Issues
      • Disability Part III, Group and Worksite Issues

MHP Designation

  • Managed Care Part A, The Basics
  • Managed Care Part B, Management Structure
  • Managed Care Part C, Trends
  • One of the following courses:
    • Medical Expense Insurance
    • Dental Benefits
    • Fraud Part I, Introduction

HCAFA Designation

  • Fraud Part I, Introduction*
  • Fraud Part II, Key Products
  • Fraud Part III, Legal Issues
  • PLUS one elective

Note*: If used for ACP Designation, ICA C2 - Life & Health Insurance Law is the alternative course.

LTCP Designation

  • LTC Part I, Understanding Needs and Options
  • LTC Part II, Financing LTC Needs
  • LTC Part III, The LTC Insurance Product
  • LTC Part IV, Insurance Administration, Claims & Impact of HIPAA

HIPAAP Designation

  • HIPAA Primer
  • HIPAA Advanced Issues
  • HIPAA Action Items for Insurers
  • PLUS one elective

MMA Designation

  • Four courses from the following:
    • Medical Management Part I, Overview
    • Medical Management Part II, Utilization Management
    • Medical Management Part III, Call Centers
    • Medical Management IV, Case Management
    • Medical Management V, Disease Management
    • Medical Management VI, Quality Management

DHP Designation

  • Disability Part I, Primer

Property/Casualty Concentration (3 Courses Required)

Coursework for Industry

  • Either (AICPCU) AIAF 111 - Statutory Accounting for Property - Casualty Insurers, or (AICPCU) CPCU 540 Finance for Risk Management & Insurance Prof.
  • Either Ratemaking - What the State Filer Needs to Know*, or CAS Part 5 - Introduction to Property and Casualty Insurance and Ratemaking
  • One elective course in your specialized area (i.e., personal lines insurance, commercial property/casualty insurance, law for insurance professionals, etc.)

Coursework for Regulators Pursuing AIE, CIE, APIR, PIR and SPIR Designations*

Three from the following courses:

  • One of the following courses:
    • (AICPCU) AIAF 111 - Statutory Accounting for Property - Casualty Insurers
    • (AICPU) CPCU 540 - Finance for Risk Management & Insurance Professional
    • (SOFE) AFE 4 - Property and Liability Insurance Accounting
    • (SOFE) CFE 2 - Analysis and Evaluation Procedure
  • One of the following courses:
    • Ratemaking - What the State Filer Needs to Know
    • CAS Part 5 - Introduction to Property and Casualty Insurance and Ratemaking
  • One elective course offered by the AICPCU EXCEPT:
    • Introduction to Property & Liability Insurance
    • Introduction to Claims
    • Introduction to Risk Management
    • Introduction to Underwriting
*Note: Not all coursework accepted by the AICP for its professional designations is included in the IRES and/or NAIC designation coursework.

Note: Electives may not be used for both ACP and CCP credit.

The Ratemaking course is offered by AICP. For more information about this course, click here. The CAS Part 5 course is offered by the Casualty Actuarial Society. For more information about this course, refer to www.casact.org.

Regulator members who began coursework toward their ACP and/or CCP designations prior to May, 2007 will be given credit for coursework passed and recognized for such designations through Annual Conference, 2008.
