Ratemaking – What the State Filer Needs to Know

This course was developed and is maintained by AICP. Items included in the $40 course fee are:
  • the Ratemaking text
  • a Ratemaking study guide supplement for the text
  • administration of the course exam

When you order the Ratemaking text, you will automatically receive the study guide with the text.

To order the Ratemaking materials, choose one of the order form links below. Checks should be made payable to 'AICP'.
The Ratemaking exam is comprised of 85 short-answer questions. While you are not expected to create fully-developed loss schedules, you are expected to be familiar with the different components of property/casualty rating and some of the less-complex formulae used in development of these components.

When you are ready to take the exam, you must find your own proctor to administer the exam. Proctors may not be members of AICP's Education Committee. Have your proctor contact AICP with the following information:
  • the proctor's name, address, and place of employment
  • the name of the examinee
  • the proposed exam date (exam kits must be returned within 8 weeks of receipt)

Your proctor can submit this information and request the exam kit by submitting an email to the AICP National Headquarters at aicp@aicp.net.
