Guidelines
Northwest Chapter Regional Director

Duties
The Chapter Regional Director is the Chapter's representative on and liaison to the National Board of Directors. As such, the Regional Director has voting privileges with respect to AICP direction, initiatives, and decisions affecting the NW Chapter. The Regional Director shall survey the Chapter Board of Officers and, as appropriate, the Chapter members in order to understand the Chapter's position on national issues that affect the Chapter. The Regional Director, then, shall represent the Chapter's point of view at National Board of Directors meetings. The Regional Director shall report Chapter initiatives and activities to the National Board via a Board report. The Regional Director shall also report National Board issues, initiatives, direction and decisions to the Chapter Board of Officers and Chapter members. The Regional Director shall perform other such duties customary to the office. The Regional Director's general duties include:
  • To represent and act as liaison for the Chapter at National Board meetings, in the Chapter's best interests.
  • To compile RD Board report items from the Chapter Board of Officers; and to provide the RD's Board report to the Board for review prior to making it available to National Board members. Provide the Chapter RD report on time for the National Board meeting.
  • To attend National Board of Directors meetings and participate in applicable teleconferences.
  • To solicit ideas of interest to the Chapter from other Chapter RDs via the Chapter Relations Committee.
  • To attend Chapter meetings, E-days, and other meetings as scheduled, and to participate in Board teleconferences.
  • To serve as a member of the Chapter Board of Officers.
  • To perform other duties and activities, as assigned by the Chapter President and/or Board of Officers.
  • To keep the Chapter President and Vice President informed of all matters relating to the office.
  • To perform other duties and activities, as assigned by the Chapter President and/or Board of Officers.
Preferred Qualifications, Skills and Experience
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Sound understanding of basic accounting and reporting principles.
  • Skilled at team building, negotiation and consensus building.
  • Ability to make prompt decisions and recommendations in the absence of specific direction.
