Guidelines
Northwest Chapter Treasurer

Duties
The Treasurer shall be responsible for all funds of the Chapter and perform other such duties customary to the office and which the Chapter President or Board may assign. Chapter financial records of the Treasurer shall be open for inspection by any Chapter member or authorized auditor. The Treasurer is responsible for maintaining all financial records of the Chapter. Also, the Treasurer is responsible for coordinating financial transactions, as appropriate, with the National Treasure and Executive Director. The Treasurer's general duties include:
  • To monitor and maintain all Chapter funds in a fiduciary capacity.
  • To help establish sound financial policies for the Chapter.
  • To present and interpret financial statement to the Board.
  • To oversee the annual budget process and to present budget issues to the Board.
  • To provide a regularly-scheduled financial report of Chapter funds to the Chapter Regional Director for inclusion in the RD's Nat'l Board Report.
  • To serve as Chairperson of the Chapter's Finance Committee; and to lead the Finance Committee in its attainment of the Finance Committee's annual charges.
  • To serve as a member of the Chapter Board of Officers.
  • To attend Chapter meetings, E-days, and other meetings as scheduled, and to participate in Board teleconferences.
  • To provide input to the Chapter President, Vice President and Regional Director relative to content for RD's National Board reports.
  • To keep the Chapter President and Vice President informed of all matters relating to the office.
  • To perform other duties and activities, as assigned by the NW Chapter President and/or Board of Officers.
Preferred Qualifications, Skills and Experience
  • Solid understanding of basic accounting and reporting principles.
  • Ability to communicate financial information to laypersons.
  • Skilled at team building, negotiation and consensus building.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability
or the equivalent of education and/or relevant experience.
