Northwest Chapter Vice President
DutiesThe Vice President shall automatically succeed to the Chapter Presidency at the end of the Chapter President's term, unless the Vice President was appointed to his/her office during the last year of the Chapter President's term in accordance with the Chapter Handbook. The Vice President is a member, ex officio, all of Chapter committees and may recommend to the President the appointment or removal of Committee Chairpersons, subject to any limitations described in the Chapter Handbook. The Vice President shall provide assistance to the President in carrying out his/her duties, in a mutually satisfactory coordination of effort designed to provide continuity of the Chapter's administration, activities and initiatives. The Vice President shall perform the duties and exercise the powers of the President in the President's absence or in case the President is unable or unwilling to serve. The Vice President shall perform other such duties customary to the office. The Vice President's general duties include:
- To assume the responsibilities of the President in the event the President is unable or unwilling to serve.
- To learn the duties of the President.
- To develop a plan during his/her last term of Vice President for his/her upcoming term as President.
- To oversee and monitor activities and initiatives of all Chapter committees. To identify and oversee Chapter committee collaborative efforts, as appropriate.
- To oversee Chapter committee progress toward attainment of their respective annual charges and to take action as needed.
- To work with the Nominating Committee in terms of identifying committee chairpersons for the ensuing term.
- To serve as a member of the Chapter Board of Officers.
- To attend Chapter meetings, E-days, and other meetings as scheduled, and to participate in Board teleconferences.
- To handle such assignments or special projects as directed by the President or Board.
- To automatically assume the office of Chapter President upon the expiration of the Chapter President's term; and to automatically assume the office of Past President upon the expiration of his/her term of President.
- To provide input to the Chapter President and Regional Director relative to the RD's National Board reports.
- To perform other duties and activities customary to the office
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Skilled at change management approaches.
- Ability to structure, organize and prioritize workload to multiple and competing priorities and deadlines.
- Ability to manage, oversee and direct multiple projects and priorities.
- Ability to facilitate group meetings.
- Skilled at team building, negotiation and consensus building.
- Ability to make prompt decisions and recommendations in the absence of specific direction.
- Solid understanding of basic financial accounting and reporting principles.
- Demonstrated leadership ability.
- Ability to assume role of President.
