Pandemic Issues and Commercial Lines Webinar

The COVID-19 pandemic has given rise to an onslaught of business interruption claims causing carriers to scrutinize their commercial policies. AAIS's Nicole Milos, Phil Skaggs and Joe Jonas will discuss the current issues and trends of COVID-19 claims, the regulatory and legislative response, the industry impact and the challenges facing today’s carriers as a result of these pandemic events.

Speakers:
Nicole Milos is Assistant Counsel at AAIS, providing insurance coverage analysis, policy drafting, contract preparation, emerging risk assessment and review for AAIS’s product suite. She joined AAIS in October 2019. Prior to coming to AAIS, Nicole was a partner with the Chicago law firm, Cremer, Spina, Shaughnessy, Jansen + Siegert. During her time at Cremer Spina, Nicole represented individuals, corporations and insurance clients on a wide variety of legal matters including tort, contract, fraud, insurance coverage and commercial litigation. Nicole received her JD and LLM in Information Technology and Privacy Law from the John Marshall Law School and her bachelor’s degree from Saint Mary’s College.

Phil Skaggs is Assistant Counsel at AAIS, providing insurance coverage analysis, policy drafting, contract preparation, emerging risk assessment and review for AAIS’s product suite, with a recent focus on our cannabis insurance program. He joined AAIS in 2016. Prior to coming to AAIS, Phil was an associate attorney at Traub, Liebman, Straus & Shrewsbury LLP, conducting insurance coverage analysis and excess monitoring and declaratory judgment, insurance defense, personal injury and product liability litigation. Phil received his JD from Chicago-Kent College of Law and his BS from Virginia Tech.

Joseph Jonas is AAIS’s Commercial Lines Product Manager, responsible for AAIS’s forms, manual rules, and rating information in the standard commercial property, casualty and niche specialty markets, including AAIS's CannaBOP program. Joseph joined AAIS in April 2019. Before coming to AAIS, Joseph was Director of Wholesale & Consulting at Insureon, an online insurance agency, where he was responsible for developing new business, new products and new markets, and driving change in how small commercial businesses navigate and purchase insurance products. Joseph has previously served in leadership and account executive roles at GCG Financial, Inc., Hub International and Liberty Mutual. Joseph earned a BS from the University of Illinois-Chicago.
